Ok, All Things Thrifty Home Accessories and Decor posted a fantastic Cottage Cheese Fruit Salad recipe yesterday, and asked others to share our favorite salad recipes as well. It's part of her "All Things Delicious [January Edition]Share your Favorite Salad Recipe!"
Anyways, here are 2 of my favorite salads that my family enjoys throughout the year! They aren't super healthy, but not too bad if you use low-fat and fat-free items! :) Enjoy!
We call this one "Green Stuff" and it's been a family favorite for YEARS!
Green Stuff (Pistachio Fruit Salad)
2 cups pineapple juice (use juice from pineapple first, then oranges)
2 pkgs. pistachio pudding (small, fat-free, sugar-free)
16 oz. sour cream
8 oz. Cool Whip
2 cans pineapple tidbits
2 cans mandarin oranges (I use big cans)
1 jar cherries (without stems)
Mix pudding with juice (pour juice in first then slowly add pudding). Add sour cream and Cool Whip. Mix in fruit (drain well).
We usually half this recipe. We use half the amount of cherries then make it again with the 2nd half when the first batch is gone.
This is one of my most favorite chicken salads ever. It's so different from any others that I've ever had! :) YUM!!
Flying Cheddar Chicken Salad
2 cups chopped chicken
1/2 cup Miracle Whip Salad Dressing
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
1/4 cup chopped onion
Combine all ingredients. Mix well.
We usually double and sometimes triple this recipe.
I don't have any pictures, but the next time we make it, I'll take a few and add them on here! :)

Anyways, my Mom and I were at one of our local antique store/flea market/thrift store places. haha It's just a big ol' mess of a store, but I love it because they have awesome deals! :) 90% off is just my style! :)
So I had seen a cute bench several months ago in the back room and then the next time I went it was gone. I was kind of sad, because it was only $20 and I talked myself out of it like an idiot. Well, Mom and I were there on December 23, and what do you know, right up front, there is my bench. hehe :) Turns out the vendor had moved their stuff up front, and I guess was in the process of moving and I just hadn't seen the bench. Well it was only $15 now!! YAY!! :) haha Well I snatched it right up and it went home with me this time. haha
Here she is...

Even though her retro print is cool, I'm still planning to recover her. Maybe I can re-purpose this cute fabric for something else. :)

I haven't had time to re-cover it yet, but we are planning to duplicate as best as we can. I love the patchwork look of the Pier 1 one. Keep checking back, I'll post it as soon as we are done with it!

We've talked about replacing it, redoing it, etc. since we move in our house over 5 years ago, but we haven't ever done anything. So I'm thinking now, should I try to make it better or just be done with it a buy something new. I'm also debating on whether or not to put a fan there for some extra air flow into the kitchen. Our stove doesn't vent out of the house, it vents through the microwave, which is stupid. Why they still build houses and don't just run the dang vent up through the attic and out of the house is still one of my pet peeves! So basically all that hot air just come right back into the kitchen. UGH! It makes me happy when I'm cooking in the winter (if you can call what we have here winter), and it's awful in the summer!

(That is one messy table, yeah, I know.)
Then, here are the cute ones I might replace it with....

This one is from Lowe's, and it's probably my favorite out of the ones I've found so far. Plus, I'm thinking, I can probably make ours look similar to this one, especially if I can find some new globes! :)
Ok, obviously Adam would never go for this one, but I can dream right? :)
This one reminds me of Beetlejuice, haha. :) Adam would never go for this one either, but I still love it! :)
This one is way to expensive, but I think it's really cool! :)

This one is soooo FUN! :) I can totally see this in our house! Plus it matches our green paint! ;) Too expensive though!

This one is completely unique! I LOVE THIS! :) Adam's response "hmmm". haha
I'm not sure what we're going to do yet, but as soon as we decide something I'll definitely post about it!! Stay tuned.... :)

Then 15 minutes later, the after....

(Yep, my window sills are DIRTY, but when you have 4 cats in the house, they get dirty quick! Basic H2 where are you!!! Don't judge... haha) :)
YAY! I replaced the broken slat all by myself! :) hehe It wasn't even that hard, and thankfully the previous homeowners left us a whole stack of extra slats!! By the way, you don't have to pop the center little button out on the bottom, since there is no cord in the middle, only on the sides! :) I'll remember that next time!
Just had to share my little DIY triumph tonight!!
(I did read up a little on what I was doing... you check that out here. I love you ehow.com)
